More and more Advertising Awards include specific categories for animation and MotionGraphics
We don’t think that at this stage of the “motions” game anyone is surprised at the increasingly relevant role that disciplines such as 2D and 3D animation and MotionGraphics are playing within the creative industries.
What is perhaps a little more recent is the prominence that they are beginning to have in the traditional advertising festivals as well, where they have more and more room.
Good ideas can simply remain in idea if the production is not up to the task. Fortunately, in addition to the MotionGraphic studios themselves and their clients, these advertising festivals are beginning to appreciate the weight that audiovisual productions have in the overall creative pieces.
CdeC 2020: The Advertising Creative Club also admits animators and MotionDesigners to its club.
It is enough to take a look at the list of categories of the CdeC in its last 2 editions (2018 and 2019) to perceive a very positive evolution that will be confirmed in the next edition of the CdeC to be held in San Sebastian on 26, 27 and 28 March 2020.
Day C 2018: Only 2 awards for animation pieces
Less than 2 years ago, in the edition held also in Donosti in 2018, within the so-called National Creativity Awards, there were only two pieces awarded:
Gold for “Forever and Ever” from Proximity for Audi
Silver for “Matías Prats, Susanna Griso, Mónica Carrillo, Vicente Vallés” by SCPF for Antena 3
Since then, the volume of pieces and the quality of the work done by motion and animation professionals have grown exponentially and this has also been reflected in the results of the festivals.
Day C 2019: 3 silver, 3 pieces in the annual report and a new category: Craft.
If we go back to last year, we can already see an interesting development in this competition that rewards national creativity. Within the CRAFT category (which began to integrate audiovisual production along with other types of productions) we find the Animation section itself, in which there were already a total of 3 sets and 3 pieces collected in the 2019 CdeC Annual Report for the following creations:
Silver “Create Your Own Path” from Puente Aéreo Films for Cupra Ateca
Silver “Fish Trap” of BBDO Counterpoint for FAADA
Silver “Planet J” by Contrapunto BBDO for Amnesty International
Annual report “Start the Dance” by DDB for Samsung / Luzon Foundation
Annual report “A shorter letter” by DDB for Audi
Annual report “One and eight” by Ogilvy for ING
An important step forward in this festival of creativity that will be consolidated in 2020 with an even more decisive focuses on the work of our country’s MotionGraphics Designers
CdeC 2020: Next year we will have our own category awards for animation and Motion Design.
The next edition promises to be interesting and full of opportunities for MotionGraphics studios and production companies in their work for advertising pieces. The festival’s list of winners will include a new category within CRAFT called MOTION IMAGE, within which we find section 2.7 “ANIMATION, MOTION DESIGN, and MAPPING” which specifically includes the following contents, as stated in the competition rules:
All the animation techniques
- Stop motion
Applied to all audiovisual formats in the service of brands or institutions:
- Spots TV
- Branded content
- TV branding
- Píldoras para redes sociales
A long list that expands the possibilities of being rewarded and that demonstrates the transversal character of animation and MotionGraphics as a creative discipline, insofar as it can be applied to practically inexhaustible media and formats.
The movement is demonstrated by walking. Now it is our turn, the motion studios, to break the copper, the Silver or the Gold to make a place in one of the most desired annual reports in the world of creativity.
So you know… From now until January 27, 2020 you can register your pieces for the 2020 CdeC.
Visual is Wonderful is about to arrive at the festivals.
